EMC, a developer and provider of information infrastructure technology and solutions, has acquired FastScale Technology, a company that produces software virtualization and provisioning applications for the enterprise. EMC says the acquisition of FastScale will help EMC’s Ionix portfolio to increase the performance and scalability of private cloud infrastructures that EMC powers. The acquisition of FastScale also extends EMCâs EMC Ionix solution for automating IT management across an infrastructure of storage, compute, network and virtualization resources, enabling customers to accelerate their transition from a physical to a virtualized data center to the private cloud.
FastScaleâs flagship product â" FastScale Composer Suite â" is a fully automated platform for building, optimizing, managing and deploying application environments in physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures. The technology lets customers streamline software stacks automatically, dynamically deploys logical servers to physical, virtual or cloud, manages patches and configurations via policies, increases virtual machine density and decreases memory requirements, and unifies management of virtual, physical and cloud infrastructures.
EMC acquired Data Domain, which offers disk-to-disk and offsite disaster recovery, last month for a whopping $1.8 billion to expand their solutions to businesses worldwide.
