Visual Studio 2010 will have additional testing options for developers to ensure quality code. Microsoft has included built-in tools for Windows 7 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and new drag and drop bindings for Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation. This is the first time that Microsoft has offered specific tools for building applications off of SharePoint. IBM Upgrades Software To Manage Data Centers And Virtualization

Custom HTML Code at Top [Sample No.3]

IBM is enhancing its VMControl software for managing data centers to give enterprise users a single point of control across multiple types of IT systems and virtualization technologies. Combined with IBM’s Tivoli software, VMControl allows for combinations of physical and virtual IBM servers to be managed as a single entity, called “system pooling.”

IBM says this approach optimizes virtualization by helping corporate data centers simplify management functions and better share and prioritize use of critical resources such as CPU, memory and storage. Having centralized control over virtualized environments lets companies manage large amounts of information and processing resources and then parcel them out to applications when and where they’re needed.

And this efficiency also brings with it lower capital, operational and energy costs for businesses. IBM also claims that the new and improved VMControl will help with the deployment of cloud computing applications. To compliment VMControl, there’s a new version of Tivoli Provisioning Manager that is being released that provides enhanced automation of the manual tasks of provisioning and configuring servers, operating systems, middleware, software applications, storage and network devices.

The combination of Tivoli and VMControl allows for speedier deployments, gives users the ability to downsize management tools into an efficient platform, and provides for additional monitoring and management features. IBM’s vice president of technical sales for systems and technology group, David Gelardi, tells us that the upgrade of these software represents the company’s larger strategy of investment on systems software for the enterprise vs. hardware. In fact, IBM’s recent strong earnings reflects this shift in focus.

Nuxeo-Open-Source-ECMNuxeo, an Enterprise Content Management company founded in 2000, announced today the release of their newest product, Nuxeo Document Management 5.3. This product comes replete with integration of OpenSocial initiatives, Windows Sharepoint Support services, improved search functions, and CMIS support.

Nuxeo’s newest release aims to please the demands of customers who need an all-inclusive solution to the management of digital content while simultaneously incorporating social business applications. The introduction of OpenSocial support to Nuxeo DM 5.3 allows users to create gadgets to use within enterprise applications. Nuxeo DM 5.3 can be used as an OpenSocial container, allowing for enterprise mashups with products such as Atlassian’s Jira, as well as being a publisher of gadgets.

Another new feature to Nuxeo DM 5.3 is deeper integration with Microsoft Sharepoint for document collaboration. Users can see information regarding their content via the Document Panel in Microsoft Office and files can be opened and saved directly through Nuxeo DM. Additionally, integration with Internet Explorer allows users to access content from Nuxeo while performing familiar browsing operations.

Nuxeo DM 5.3 has added support for draft 0.62 of the CMIS initiative. The inclusion of this, via an add-on component, will ensure interoperability for users who are supporting multiple content repositories.

Search functionality has also been improved in this version. Users are now able to search granularly for metadata and can search for information in multiple fields.

Nuxeo faces stiff competition from the likes of IBM, EMC, OpenText, and Oracle; all of whom are proponents of the CMIS platform. However, the price point of Nuxeo, through developer and production support subscriptions (Nuxeo DM is freely available under the standard LGPL), is lower than many of their bigger competitors.

Screencasts of the product can be found here.
